The pouring bowls are made for use, the thicker rolled rim is there for the wooden spoon to hit as the contents are flung into the bowl.

The interior is glazed with a variety of colours from where as the outside is left as bare clay to be decorated and glazed by the salt in the kilns atmosphere.
